What is a death doula?

A death doula is a professionally trained end-of-life guide who provides holistic non-medical support to individuals and their loved ones during life’s transitions.

Unlike medical professionals, death doulas focus on emotional, spiritual, and practical assistance, helping people navigate end-of-life experiences with dignity and compassion.

Death doulas bridge the gap between medical care and personal, compassionate support during one of life's most profound transitions.

MISSION STATEMENT

Meet Michael

I believe everyone deserves the opportunity to experience a good death—one defined on their own terms, held with dignity and supported with compassion. My mission is to walk alongside individuals and their loved ones through the end-of-life journey offering presence, partnership, education and practical guidance. I honor each person’s unique story, values, and choices, creating an environment of peace, meaning, forgiveness and connection.

  • Certified End of Life Doula

Just like a birth doula helping to bring life into the world, an End of Life Doula is a holistic non-medical professional trained to provide emotional, physical, spiritual and informational support for a patient and their caregiver and loved ones before, during, and after death.

  • Certified Elder Care Doula

An Elder Care Doula provides companionship and ongoing support for aging seniors and their caregivers. Following an initial free consultation, we will discuss the available options to customize services tailored to the needs of the client.

  • Certified Care Consultant

A Care Consultant is a specially trained professional that provides support for clients at any age, possibly long before a terminal diagnosis, to identify what’s important, guidance for creating advance directives and information to allow informed choices. Facilitates effective communication with loved ones.

  • A 2011 study on Medicare beneficiaries found that nearly 9 out of 10 caregivers for older adults at the end of life were family members or other unpaid individuals.

  • "You matter because you are you, and you matter to the end of your life. We will do all we can not only to help you die peacefully, but also to live until you die."
